Behind the scenes.

For those of you new to the site, HNB is all about being yourself. It's about kids being kids. Dirty hands are okay, bare feet are encouraged, laughing and cutting up are preferred! Kids rarely sit still and smile at you, so you won't see anything like that here.
You'll see kids being kids. You'll see families laughing together. You'll see siblings playing together. You'll see parents in love with each other. You'll see the beauty of real life.

If you see something that makes you laugh, cry, smile, or giggle - don't be shy, leave a comment!

I'm always happy to answer questions, ask questions, or just chat it up, so give me a call!

Pretty girls in Ferndale

I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of girls and their mom in Ferndale this weekend. We had a great time and the girls are destined to be on a fashion magazine cover some day - I’m sure of it. Here are a few sneak peeks as promised:

Gorgeous, don’t you think? Thanks so much to mom for having me over. I can’t wait to show you guys the rest of these photos!

Mo cuteness.

Well HNB is going to the dogs. I had the thrill of meeting another perfectly cute pooch - Mo and her momma.

She was super. Cute. Well behaved. and just FULL of personality.

Here are some favorites of Mo.

Hot days. Cool kids.

Has it been hot lately or what?? We’ve been staying indoors more and more around the HNB household with this heat that’s been lingering over us. I’m so glad summer is finally here, though. Now is the time to head to the beach and play in the water. We had some fun the other day just goofing around in the kiddy pool and playing with the water hose. I think a splash of cool water on a hot day is always going to be a winner with kids, right?

Hey. Zeus.

Ok, this is long overdue.

I had the pleasure of meeting Zeus a while ago. And here are a few tidbits about Zeus.

He’s huge and only getting bigger.

He reaaaaaaaaally likes his soccer balls.

He likes to run.

He likes the kids soccer balls.

He has the longest tongue I’ve ever seen.

And did I mention he likes soccer balls?

Check out Zeus the soccer star.

Yes there are some pictures without soccer balls in them. But did I mention how much he loves his soccer balls?

That’s all for now. Check back for more Zeus later!

Gorgeous family + no rain = happy day

We got rained out last weekend. Today was our reschedule. It was cutting things close and I almost thought we may have to try again BUT the weather held out and we got some absolutely beautiful shots. It helps that these guys are all completely supermodel material. We need an America’s Next Top Model - Family Edition. These guys would be the winners, hands down.

Thanks so much you guys, you were so sweet and so fun. I’m glad we finally got to meet up and do this!

Here are a few from today:

I have to preface this next photo and explain that this is mom and dad on the right. Yes, they look that good and really are old enough to have beautiful grown children this old. Isn’t that amazing?

AND to top it all off, one of these beautiful people is marrying yet another beautiful people (yes, English I love you):

Are you kidding me? How cute! :)

Thanks guys! You were so fun. I can’t wait to show you the rest!

Rockin’ in the park.

The town of Clarkston hosts concerts at the park at Depot Park. I had the chance tonight to photograph a friend’s band performing tonight at Depot Park - and it was so FUN! They did a great job, they sounded just awesome. I have never photographed a band performance before! It was quite the challenge, but at least there were some great tunes to keep me moving.

Here are some of the highlights from the day:

There was quite the crowd:

(that’s my tot in the bottom left corner, looking for trouble as usual!)

Unfortunately just as the set started, the rain came down in buckets.

Luckily it passed quickly and the band was able to get started.

And a final shot of the full stage.

Thanks for inviting us, Nick. We had fun - you guys were awesome! I wish you all many more successful performances and boatloads of fans.

Puppy love.

In life there are dog people and cat people. There are animal lovers and those who really are not so much. I am, without a doubt, a dog person. I adore animals and feel very strongly about many animal rights campaigns. Mostly, though, I just adore the companionship, the laughs, the undeniable adorable-ness (yes I made that word up) that dogs bring to our lives when we take them in as our friend and family member.

I am especially proud of my own canine companions - my dogs Emma and Molly. They are as cute as can be and they manage to make us laugh every day. I’ve always enjoyed photographing them but never shared the shots so much because I am a “children and family” photographer. Well, aren’t our dogs part of our family?

Happy 10th Birthday Xander!

Today my oldest son turned 10. We had a big surprise for him with a limousine we rented from Personal Touch Limo in Macomb County Michigan. (I have to give a lot of credit to our driver, Don. He was very professional and patient with all of the crazy screaming children in his car. I really appreciated it!) We picked up Xander’s closest friends and headed to CJ Barrymores for some fun times. We packed our four hour rental time with all of the fun we could manage and headed home for pizza, fun, and giant birthday cookie treats. All of the kids had a blast and I think Xander now thinks I’m cool again. At least until tomorrow.

So Happy Birthday Xander! And of course, here are some of the best shots from the day:

Things got a little rowdy in the car:

And this is what happens when you ask Xander if he likes a girl standing beside him (particularly one that he does like):

So there you have it. There’s a lot more, but too much to share here! So to the parents of the partygoers, I will get a copy of all of them to you soon. Thanks for letting your kids share a fun day with Xander!

Happy Birthday, Xander!

It’s gonna rain!

I predict it will rain today. Why? Because we washed the car! Isn’t that how it ALWAYS goes?

Oh well, the rain can’t mess with my sparklin’ clean interior. Take that rain!

Grown up style

I got a brief few shots of my sister in law with my husband in Dearborn this afternoon. She’s so pretty, aren’t they cute together?

Is my husband handsome or what? Awww - don’t ya know I just love him :)

I have to tell you, this is Kristyn’s “pensive” look. I think she pulled it off, don’t you?

It’s always fun when I can indulge in a little photography of my own family (or my husband’s family, same thing!). So glad I got to spend some time doing this!
